I first read Saint Faustina's book Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul when she was plain old Sister Faustina, and a rather daunting twentieth-century mystic. The book freaked me out in several places, especially the locutions from Jesus and the visions of the afterlife. I was drawn to the book, but it frightened me, when I had just come back to the Church after a period of atheism. This was the mid-1980's also, when visionaries, mystics and classic Catholic spirituality was on the wane in the United States. Devotional books as intense as Saint Faustina's had given way to more careful, distanced spirituality. So I put the book away.I came back to it several times over the years, and always found much to intrigue, inspire and challenge me. I found it again in a Eucharistic Adoration chapel a few months ago, and bought it for myself after using it to great effect in prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament exposed. At this point, in my sixth decade of life, with classic Catholicism in full bloom wherever I look, I am finding it a wonderful book to deepen my knowledge of and relationship with Christ. I highly recommend it to Christians, especially Catholics, of all ages. When I first picked the book up in the 80's, Eucharistic Adoration was a dream from the past, as were novenas, the rosary, Benediction, and other devotions and practices of my childhood. Today's younger Catholics are fortunate to once again have ready access to all of the traditional and classic modes of prayer and devotion that have nourished the Catholic faithful over the centuries. This book was made for the ages -- and the Divine Mercy is now coming into Its own.

An incredible book. I read the first edition twice and this is my third time. There is so much here that it takes several reads to absorb it all. St Faustina was directed by Jesus and her Spiritual Advisor to keep a Journal and she did an execellent job. She quoted every word between her and Jesus and later Mary. It was interesting to see how Jesus worked with her and how Mary helped her a great deal. You get an understanding of how much we are loved and what Jesus had to do to redeem us. Seeing how much Jesus and Saint Faustina both suffered to save souls is enlightening and makes you deeply regret every sin. Saint Faustina was told many times to prepare the world for the second coming of Christ. It would be the end of the time of mercy and the beginning of the time of judgement. This book will help you get to heaven.

I'm a Protestant. No Catholics in my family, and never been to mass except for watching them on TV now and then. However, the Divine Mercy Chaplet grabbed me a couple of years ago after I saw it on EWTN, and ever since then I've been intrigued by it and Saint Faustina. When I first heard about her diary, I figured if I was going to learn about this lady I'd better do it right. No paperbacks with tiny print for me, thanks (Not that there's anything wrong with paperbacks or tiny print; I just enjoy other formats when I can get them--books are treasures. :-) ).Long story short, I'm so glad I did. It's extremely encouraging and overwhelming to see Faustina's testimony in her own words, and this book is absolutely beautiful. It even smells good. Anyone, Catholic or Protestant, who wants to delve into God's great mercy will like this. Even if someone doesn't agree with all Catholic doctrine, it's still awesome to see an example of God using someone many would consider "the least of these."

This is a real person's diary . . . and the intimate interior life of the soul of a young idealistic woman and her mystical experiences. It can beread or speed read through with the purpose of extracting the subtle tone of the writer's interior feelings and thoughts. It is a translation and hasbeen edited . To read this quickly without the intention of returning and reading it slowly through is a mistake (in my opinion) . I read it long agoin 2005 and was very impressed by it, although, it would have been useless to me if I had not, first, seen the dramatized life of the saint and understood both her childhood circumstances which give background to her sweet Diary writings, which she wrote in her own handwriting , in her own way, in some notebooks, for the purpose of her own spiritual growth. After her death,these writings were collected, put in order and nicely bound for the edification of us all. Her schooling was perhaps not up to the standard of expression for public consumption but the diary were her own writings in a notebook expressing her feelings as a Sister in a convent in Poland. It is a great source of inspiration to read and I warmly recommend it .

I have a regular paperback of Faustina's Diary, but it's thick and hard to handle. I really love the quality and ease of use of this version -- so very worth the extra money! It's much thinner, with thin pages (the paper is the kind used in a lot of Bibles) and a ribbon to keep my place. Of course, the Diary itself is very inspirational to read and well worth the time set aside to read it. It's like having a conversation with our merciful Savior, who lets us know how much He loves us and longs for us on every page!

This is a very well done children's book on an important world religion. It uses the narrative story of the Buddha's life to demonstrate the fundamental principles of Buddhism i.e. material life is characterized by suffering, the middle way between two extremes is best and there is a release from the cycle of suffering.Where children are concerned, it is a good story that captivates attention and sparks the imagination. This re-telling of the Buddha's life fits the bill and introduces many sound principles that apply to any religion e.g. ultimate satisfaction is not to be found in the material world, the way to deeper meaning is inward, suffering is largely caused by selfish desire, etc.In a diverse world, books like this can help to bridge important gaps. This one has a good story, principles, illustrations, etc. I highly recommend it.

My 4 year old girl is probably a bit confused when I take meditation breaks. Not only is this a great story to instill values but it seems to elucidate on the practice of meditation at a basic level and I think it was a eureka moment for her while I was reading that part. This is why Daddy meditates kind of thing. Excellent book I hope she doesn't get bored with it so I can read over and over again and habituate both of our minds! =)

A beautiful book. The art is just lovely. I really enjoyed it. That being said, I felt it was a little too advanced for my 3.5 year old. My 5 year old was very interested in drawings but it seemed a little too detailed for her even. I think the approach to take would be to read a few pages at a time and then talk about what you read and then read a few more the next night and talk about what you read..etc..etc...but not something to read all in one evening. A good buy regardless. You can always tuck it away until the time is right.

Wish I would have known that this book is not a standard left to right book for reading, but instead unfolds like a wall calendar to be read top to bottom.

I really enjoyed this book and hope that the kids will as well. Really beautiful pictures and age appropriate book.

the best children's book on the life of Gautama Buddha. There's some discrepancy on the details, but then again, every "school of thought" has their rendition of Gautama's life before enlightenment.

I bought this for a 4 and 6 year old, but the length and language are more at a 4th grade level. But it looks like a kids book, so I'm not sure if a 4th grader would be interested.

It's called the strap technique it looks bad and the strap bends by sliding ice and snow, causing the strap to bend and the slate to come off and possibly hit you on the head. Don't make the same mistake I made. This book is a waist of money. If you buy it you will end up using it to fix a rocking chair by sliding it under the short leg so that your chair stops rocking.

Great book for Campbell's collectors. Excellent condition.

Great, so much stuff in the book.

The book was a library throw away (as seen by its stickers ) and stated it was not the currant value of things so I am not sure how much it was off but it gave me some idea of what things had gone for. Disappointing but ...

This book was recommended by a friend when I was told I might have MS. It is a good book to start with if you know nothing about the disease and has some helpful info. I also picked up two other MS books Amazon recommended: "MS & your feelings" and "the MS Recovery Diet". Both also had some interesting insight and many personal stories of folks dealing with MS. All three books I just hopped around and read the parts that interested me at the moment. I realize that "one size fits all" advice does not apply with MS. MS patients' symptoms are extremely individualized and often quite different from person to person. I have since been "officially" diagnosed with the disease; I have found reading & researching did help me feel more hopeful, gave me more understanding about my future living with the disease, and made me realize there are many aspects of it I do have control over.

I have MS and I want to know all about it because it is so unpredictible and I can't run to the er every time something weird happens. This book helped me understand my MS better and now I know when a trip to the er is really necessary. everyone with MS or who knows someone with MS needs this book. The nurse that came to my house to show me how to give myself shots said you can't go back whatever damage the MS has done can't be changed, the goal now is to prevent future damage and this book will help

As another reviewer has said below, I was not impressed with the standard of research and referencing in this book. The drug section is indeed heavily biased towards the drug the author is taking and she even goes so far as to claim that other drugs are ineffective for most people-contrary to what the science says. I also found much of the emotional stuff moved too quickly for me- she really only deals with it in the first week, and as someone who has been diagnosed 6 weeks, I am still working towards the positive attitude that I should apparently have already. I also found the month 5 chapter on "life choices" difficult- the majority of stories are about how leaving your (bad) relationship will improve your life and I feel like the author doesn't acknowledge the immense comfort that a supportive partner can provide. I wouldn't recommend you purchase this to get you through the first year- I have found the information and counselling provided by my healthcare team and local MS society to be infinitely more helpful. If you are science-minded however, I found Multiple Sclerosis: The Guide to Treatment and Management to be an excellent evidence-based guide to the treatments out there.

My wife was dianosed with MS earlier this year. It has been a very difficult year for us, as you can well imagine. She has actually been having severe symptoms for longer than that, but she was initially misdiagnosed. She has read three books so far on MS and quite a number of articles and blogs on the subject. She got a lot out of this read because it came from someone who has MS. She says it is a good resource.

This book is worth buying if only for the extensive list of resources contained within.Beyond that, the author makes a terrifying and confusing disease seem less so. Gives patients all the information they need to know, with a big dose of "things will be okay, you can get through this" on the side.

This is a pretty solid book for someone first diagnosed with MS. It offers some good insights and I think it was worth the time to read it to help with the first few months of my diagnosis.

I was just Dx. with MS in January, 2016..this book has taught me a lot and I would recommend. It does teach you a lot about the disease and helps with the initial shock..BUT...this book does not teach you that their is a cure! If you are newly Dx. and going through the intitial shock, learn everything you can about your disease...including how to beat it. Google HSCT, it's a stem cell transplant, using chemo and your own stem cells, to cure MS at a 93% success rate if you have relapsing remitting MS...Dr. Richard Burt in Chicago is in his third clinical trial with awesome results. But there are many places you can go to around the world for the same treatment for a fraction of the cost of what it cost in the United States...I will be going to Clinica Ruiz in Mexico to "reboot" my immune system....I implore all of you who are newly Dx. not to blow this cure off as being a scam...yes, there are scams out there, but you will find plenty of facebook groups that are supporting the legitimate hospitals and clinics for this treatment. Chicago, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, Phillapines to only name a few. THERE IS A CURE None of these books will teach you this

I apparently bought this book too far into my diagnoses. Instead of telling you how to deal with MS, it tells you what to expect during the different phases from suspecting through the first year of having been diagnosed.

This I used in one of my college classes while working on my MLS. It gave me a greater understanding in cataloging and how to classify all books. I would definately recommend this if you are going into Cataloging books.

Dense text. I recommend you use it with a companion text.

Easy to follow along and good references. Chapters were quite lengthy.

So far, so good. I've only just begun reading "Cataloging and Classification" for my cataloging class at San Jose State, but it's very readable. Complex cataloging schemes are made understandable. I would recommend it for those interested in library cataloging, though I can't imagine reading it as a causal book.

Good Textbook but very dry reading.

This product has been what I expected it to be and and it has been very useful for its purpose

If you can rent this book, you should. Come March 2013 the standard will change and who knows what happens then. That time mark already happened, and I am still trying to!!!! to figure it out.
