This is the 6th Disney World Guide I've read in the last few months and it's my favorite by leaps and bounds. This is the first book that it felt like I was reading instead of researching . The reason I decided to purchase the book is because I LOVED the color coded maps that you can get off his website so I decided to give his book a shot. It simplified everything 3 fold and I would recommend the maps to anyone planning a trip. My wife would say I'm a really big maps and numbers guy but even then, I think a couple of the other books are a bit too bloated with information. I also was pleasantly surprised to find out after I purchased the paperback that the Kindle version of the book is free with the purchase. My 5 year old daughter doesn't know I'm planning the trip so I didn't have to wait for her to fall asleep before I started reading the book.

Disney World is so massive and complex --not to mention expensive-- and this guide is a bit lighter and easier to manage than The Unofficial Guide, which has gotten quite cumbersome, especially if you haven't used these guides in a while, or it's your first WDW trip. They both have their strengths, and you may not agree with all the assessments of the attractions, restaurants and hotels. But certainly, the Easy Guide is one of the most reliable out there.

The trick about planning a WDW vacation is that you need to know a lot and you need to do a lot in advance: book ADRs, book hotels, book FP+. It's incredibly easy to fall down the rabbit hole and become paralyzed with the sheer amount of information. This book isn't exhaustive, but in fewer than 350 pages it tells you everything you need to know to begin your planning. Honestly, I'm sure that you could have an outstanding experience by only consulting this book, but the authors' websites are a great place to explore the nuance in more detail (do I want a dessert party? What is Disney After Hours? ). I was a little disappointed that the book didn't have an index, but the I realized that I could search in the free accompanying kindle, making an index a little less necessary. Overall, I've been wonderfully pleased with the book.

I've successfully used Josh and Dave's website crowd predictions to plan my last 2 Disney trips, so it was a forgone conclusion that I'd be purchasing their guidebook for my upcoming 2019 trip. Their blend of numbers based recommendations and snarky humor is a winning combination for me. It was convenient to be able to start browsing the Kindle version immediately while I waited for my hard copy to arrive. I'm looking forward to receiving 2019 updates and to enjoying another (practically) stress free Disney experience.

While I haven't received my physical copy of the book yet, I have started reading my kindle version. I purchased one in 2014 and it helped me plan my 2015 trip in September. I used all his advices, followed his guide and we had the most pleasant relaxing trip ever. We went again on a spur of the moment trip during spring break (high traffic) 2018 (didnt re purchase that time) and still used most his methods I could remember. Even on no refresher course, we had such an amazing time. This book is a necessary investment and the right tool for your toolbox to plan the perfect disney vacation. Spring Break 2018 while we had plenty of busy crowds, not once did we "feel" it specifically because of this books advice and approach to handling crowds and breaking down fastpass strategies. There are too many people I speak to/know who go to Disney with zero understanding of all that, end up have a miserable time, vowing to never go back. With this book, that's not the case! Helps you grasp realistic expectations of your vacation and how to best handle it all. Now we are planning a 2019/2020 new years eve trip (I know we get crazier and crazier each trip), and I knew I would NEED an updated version of this book. There has been too many changes since 2014 plus the adding of star wars galaxies edge. I'm curious to see the new perspective on all the new additions since 2014! Look forward to finishing!

Crowd calendars ,park touring tips, budgets, hotel and dining recommendations are just a few of the helpful aids covered in this book. Updates are available as well as email communication with the authors makes this the most consumer friendly and helpful tool for tackling a "vacation" to Walt Disney World. WDW constantly adds and subtracts attractions to refresh the parks experience and the Easy Guide makes sense of it all and leads you on a "path throughthe wilderness".

The best website, best blog and best guide. I have been following these guys for years and they are the most knowledgeable in the Disney universe for info on Disney World. Believe me things are much more complicated than a decade ago … smart phones and apps are now a necessity. Since I'm a Luddite with a flip phone and spreadsheets, I look forward to the latest advice from Dave and Josh to maximize my $$ when I go to Disney World.

So much useful information, especially for first time visitors! I've been to Walt Disney World several times. There have been so many changes, and many more changes to come, since my last trip and this book has just the updated information I need in an easy to read and understand format. I especially like the Cheat Sheets and the Blank Fastpass+ and Itinerary!

I thoroughly enjoyed this peek into the heart behind the cardigan. Simply Marvelous.If you grew up watching Mister Rogers and felt that his life made yours better, then you already knew that his faith, though quiet, was the animating principle behind his ability to connect with others. I cried several times in reading this book. The writer really captured his spirit through the pages.For fans of Mister Rogers and people that long for a kinder, gentler version of Christianity than what we see sold in America today. We could all stand to be nicer and a better neighbor to our fellow man. Mister Rogers simply pointed the way to a life of service and love, bound together by faith in the Almighty creator of the world, who taught us how to love.

Amy Hollingsworth's memoir is smoothly written with sweet sentiment, but actually sheds limited light on the life of Fred Rogers. It reads like a eulogy in some aspects and reflects more of the author's experiences and opinions than biographical information about Mr. Rogers. The author mostly homiligizes on a few of his famous sayings and pieces of his correspondence to her. About midpoint, the book seemed repetitive and drags to the finish. If you have never read anything about Fred Rogers, this might be a fine starting point; as for myself, I will have to keep looking for a true biography.

Just saw the movie "Won't You Be My Neighbor" and this is a wonderful compliment to the story of Mister Rogers. I know he had a strong faith, but this book highlights so many of his beautiful attributes. His whole attitude was to be with people and help them see their own worth. We certainly need more people like him in this world right now!

Some books are designed to be clever or entertaining. This book is beyond either of those. It is nourishing. While you could read it all in one sitting, it may be wise to read a chapter at a time and reflect on each one. Beautifully done, wonderful, and gentle.

What a wonderful book about a treasured hero of kindness. Amy wrote a beautiful story about her friendship with Mr. Rogers, detailing personal messages shared in their many years of letter-writing. What an experience, to share in their communication and see deeper into the heart and mind of such a wonderful man. Thank you, Amy, for this gift. I cried quite a few times - what a treasure is the legacy of Mr. Rogers - a shining of example of humanity exuding kindness and love.

Further confirms that Mister Rogers was one of the good ones. He was spiritual, but didn't force his values on anyone. Instead, he lived his own truths, and was always open to learning from others. He tried to find the best in each individual, and celebrated that individuality. He taught his viewers that it was okay to feel, both the good and the bad emotions. His life, his wholehearted care, was an example until the very end, and his legacy lives on through the millions of lives he touched through his show.This book may have only earned a four-star rating -- I would have liked to see more from his actual letters (and there were some weird formatting issues in the Kindle edition) -- but Fred Rogers was no doubt a five-star man.

I am a bookaholic and there are not many books I do not like. I did not like this book at all.Mr. Roger's show focused on unconditional love. For children from loving families, he reaffirmed unconditional love. For children who were not lucky enough to have a loving family, he was a stabilizing figure and is message of unconditional love in this chaotic world. He was someone children could rely on, someone whom they could trust. He was inclusive of everybody - he didn't care if you were white, black or brown. HHe loved kids from all religious backgrounds. He didn't care if you were male or female. He told children constantly that they are all loved.Although Fred was a pastor, religion was not a focus of his show. Love was the focus of his show.This author did not share much about Fred Roger's life. She did not delve into his background - what made him the person he became. She didn't discuss his personal live at all. I learned nothing I didn't already know about Mr. Rogers.Her focus was what they shared about their Christianity. Fred was a pastor but he rarely mentioned his own religion because it was not inclusive of everyone. I'm Christian but I was offended that this whole book was about her Christianity. This was not Fred Roger at all. And I would be surprised if he preferred his book focused on only one part of his life. I felt like it was self promoting - trying to convince her audience that she too shared his message. I cannot remember reading another biography that was a tale of the author's relationship to the individual and how alike they are.Yes, she appears to have had a wonderful relationship with Fred. But her relationship was selfish in the fact she didn't think anything about his life was not as important than her relationship to Fred.Sadly, I didn't even like the author by the end of book. Her relationship was a distraction from all the things she could have shared about this great man.I hope another author will take the challenge to write a book about Fred because this book didn’t touch on his legacy at all.

First off I want to say that I really hated to give two stars for the incredible amount of work that went into developing this book, but in the end there was no 2.5 star rating so here we are. The reasons being they are trading on 20-22 different trading days of the month and the fact is even with transaction free accounts, trading costs accrue with the bid/ask spread in the ETF price, which in a commodity ETF like PDBC can be significant if the liquidity is low at the time you want to trade. The “luck” of the day of the month you pick can significantly affect your results on a quick drop like what happened in Oct. of 1987, (more on this later.) While on the subject of the ETF PDBC, from the Invesco website it is clear this is an ETF based on Futures contracts and SWAPs and in my opinion I would NEVER put one-third of my investments in this vehicle. Chapters 8 on compounding, 9 on diversification, 11 on don’t give your money to Wall Street banks, 14 your brain on money, 17 use bargain brokerages, 20 don’t step on virtual land mines along the road of life, 21 & 22 Social Security and Safe withdrawal rates.I have a bit of a problem with Chap 19 and advice to do Roth conversions between ages 55-69. I have written much on this subject and most books on this subject is misguided at best. In most all cases you will find that in real terms you won’t need more Roth money in retirement and that Roth money that was converted at a higher tax rate now has to be spent in a lower tax bracket in retirement, thus leaving you with less spendable income. Roth does have some uses in retirement, but it is not superior to the IRA over the whole span of your working and retirement career, in most cases.In conclusion the author’s premise of the book is that if you achieve two-thirds the gain of the S&P 500’s total return during bull markets and limit losses to half that of the S&P 500 during bear markets you will outperform over complete bull-bear cycles. I say, “well it depends on the length of those cycles.” Attached is the image of two trends, which is made up of market data on the one hand and a muscular portfolio that tracks 50% of the losses and two-thirds of the gains for two market cycles, which have been “gene-spliced” together. One is the 30% Market crash of 1987 and bull run to Dec 2000, while the second (spliced onto the first) it the Dec 2008 bear market, followed to Mar 2009 and the bull market to Dec of 2017. The results are striking. From a $10,000 starting balance in each the S&P 500 went to $121,841, while the Muscular Portfolio with gains as described above went to $64,000. I hope for the author’s sake he can get a little more than two-thirds of the market gains because that may not cut it. Unfortunately, he hasn't been in this strategy since the 2009 bottom, so it may be another 15 years before we really know. In my opinion most investors should stick to a good passive strategy that is keyed to their risk tolerance.

Contains much general investing information which is often more timely than in many places. I loved the bank-by-bank breakdown of fines paid for unethical behaviors, now totalling over $150B! GSachs receives close attention but sadly not including the latest 1MDB scandal. I did find the book less well organized than I would have liked but in some ways a breath of fresh air.

This is a wonderful book, filled with carefully written advice, along with a rich background of detail, guidance, recent financial scholarship, and cautionary flags. Here’s a workable way to remove pesky emotions and poor judgement from your investment decisions. It’s refreshing to encounter an exposition of an investing strategy that is forthright, unambiguous and honest. The reader benefits when the author converts state of the art theory into a very concrete strategy, and tells the evolution of expert thinking that has led to it. In the process, he shows the reader that momentum can act as a predictive factor (upsetting modern portfolio theory, or MPT) as he unveils a clearly drawn prescription making it actually work. To do this, he deals clearly with notions of asset classes, key time intervals, choice of best etf candidates for portfolio design, and a metric and strategy for capturing momentum onto your personal balance sheet. It sounds perhaps complicated but really isn’t, and, as a bonus, makes for asorbing reading. Taking a long term time horizon, he ticks off and debunks many myths that linger on, and rarely makes his points without vivid evidence. I found it amusing to discover that many of the things I wanted to do, such as weaving in my own favored variations, changing this and that element of the strategy, cooking up my own tweaks, juicing the month’s portfolio by throwing in an off strategy trade— these the author would, presumably, slap my wrists for. But, this aside, the author provides a real and valuable service, for which a debt of gratitude is deserved.

This is an amazing book and one which carries my highest recommendation. I have been trading the markets since the 60s and have a large library of books, indeed I have written a few myself. I can easily recognize the incredible amount of work that went into publishing this book which carries so much information and manages to present it in an interesting and colorful way with many full-page illustrations.I intend to get copies to interested family members and I can recommend it to all those who seek to profit from the market in a well disciplined and unstressful manner. Once upon a time there was a girl who thought classical music was completely boring and pompous. As she grew, she began discovering interests in things she never thought she'd be interested in. Things like art, philosophy, and music ("but never classical music" she scoffed)!One evening, a man invited her to the Utah symphony. While this sounded like the most monotonous new thing one could try, her date was super handsome and she agreed to attend. With whiskeys enjoyed and fancy date in arm, they listened as Beethoven's Fifth was played.What a first date! Her interest was piqued and so began the self-induction process via Google. As it goes, months passed, confusion and frustration grew and all attempts to understand this dense, pretentious music seemed futile.Enter Clemency Burton-Hill.-------------------------------------------I've been reading this book for a few weeks and ADORE it!!! Clemency pulled me from the brink of bitter despair and makes listening, reading and learning about classical music FUN.Not only did she save my personal musical journey, but that hunky symphony date is now my boyfriend and she has given us a way to SHARE this musical journey together, every day.This book holds a very special place in my heart and Clemency for writing it.

The book may interest you, but unless you wish to pay $120 a year for Spotify, you cannot access the much-hyped playlist. Spotify will give you five seconds of music then stop. Useless. Listening to each day's short selection is a great way to start or end the day. I like to listen to the day's musical choice, then do the day's reading, first forming my own opinion of the music then reading the interpretation and composer's bio.Almost all of the music is classical. There is a Frank Zappa selection, but he had dabbled in classical.I do wish it were published in hardback or at least a spiral notebook. I'm not sure the binding will hold up.Highly recommended.

I like the brief interesting one page commentary. I find the daily songs on YouTube.

I am someone who never really got into the wide world of classical music, and when I stumbled across this book, I was instantly intrigued. I am so in love with this! I did start on January 1, but the book can be started at any point during the year. Each page is one day, one song, with a brief background, context, or story around its success. As of now, there is a free Spotify playlist with all of the songs, in order, so you can just follow along and hear the music there. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an excuse to taste some classical music throughout the year.

As you read the book, you get a sense of wonder that Clemency Burton-Hill has for music. Great book for those new to classical music or for those who have enjoyed classical music for a lifetime. Enjoying reading this book a day at a time. The author has also posted playlists for each month on Spotify (through March so far) so you can listen to her selections.

Short stories of intrigue surrounding common and not-so-common composers and classical works. The audiobook narrator is amazing! (Note that audiobook doesn't have music clips with it, as I had hoped.) Hardcover book is top-quality--really a beautiful book with a page a day. I got both versions of the book toward the end of January but have enjoyed "catching up" to the current date. I look forward to using this resource (in both formats) the whole year, and starting it all over again next year!

Great book for those looking to discover more in classical music. This book I think has something for everyone who loves music.

About the Author

Sir Max Hastings was a foreign correspondent for many years, reporting from more than 60 countries for BBC TV and the London Evening Standard. He reported conflict in the Middle East, Indochina, Angola, India, Zimbabwe and finally the 1982 Falklands War. He has presented historical documentaries for television, including series on the Korean War and on Churchill and his generals. He is the recipient of numerous British awards for his books and journalism, including Journalist of the Year (1982), and Editor of the Year (1988). He has written 18 books on military history and current events. Some notables are Bomber Command, which earned the Somerset Maugham Prize for nonfiction, The Battle for the Falklands, Overlord: D-Day and the Battle for Normandy, both of which also received awards. For 16 years, he was successively editor-in-chief of the British Daily Telegraph and Evening Standard, from which he retired in 2002. He has published two memoirs, Going To The Wars (2000) about his experiences as a war correspondent, and Editor (2003) about his time running newspapers. He lives outside London.

If not, then know that Hastings does two things in his books: he avoids detailing every event so that he can explain *why* things happened the way they did; and then he gives his brutal opinion.As with all of Hastings' books, you should have some background knowledge on the topic before you read it. He breezes through a lot of events and assumes you know enough to keep up. He then delves into the events and other factors that explain what was happening. He will present the opinions of various historians, but more often than not, he will shoot down those opinions and explain why he disagrees. His opinionated writing is fascinating for the historian and has become a bit of his trademark.In this book, he outlines the fall of the Japanese empire, from Midway to Burma, with primary emphasis on the final year of the war. He gives equal weight to all theaters of the Pacific, rather than just focusing on MacArthur or Nimitz. He tries his hand at explaining the Japanese war mentality that is so foreign to the Western mind. He also finishes the book with a condemnation of Japan for never having fully repudiated their wartime behavior in the way that Germany has.Overall, this is a thorough and fascinating account of the end of the war in the Pacific. But again, make sure you have solid background in ALL areas of the war against Japan before you read this.

As in his other masterpiece, "Inferno" (the best single volume history of the war), Hastings pulls no punches and is even-handed in his commentaries. For example, he makes it clear that the British Burma campaign had no strategic value whatsoever in terms of defeating Japan, but was only a final bloody exercise to try to restore a dying British empire. Tragically, thousands of Britons (and Indians) had to die for this fantasy. Similarly, Hastings makes it clear that MacArthur's obsession to restore American control over all of the Philippines, instead of just taking the ports and airfields that would have been useful to a later invasion of Japan, led to the unnecessary deaths of thousands of Americans and Filipino civilians. Hastings is unhesitant about exposing in graphic terms the genocidal crimes committed by the Japanese against other Asians whose countries they occupied, especially the Chinese and Filipinos. Hastings neither excuses nor condemns the horrors inflicted on the Japanese people in the final months of the war; rather, he explains the context in which those horrors occurred.

Max Hastings, with extraordinary detail and historical accuracy, captures and conveys Japan's last devastating year of WWII. It had to imagine the countless hours upon hours of research that went into this book. My father flew B-29s from Saipan. I learned so much about that 'chapter' of the war. I compared dates of bombing campaigns with my father's papers and discovered events I could never have learned about otherwise. It helped me understand what my father and hundreds of other brave flyers went throug on those long, dangerous flights to Japan and back. I wish my father was still alive as I have so many questions now. He offers a thorough history lesson and I look forward to his other books about the war.

Author Max Hastings has delivered a very concise and overwhelming account of the Pacific war; although focused on the last two years of the war in the Pacific, he has managed to meld into this work the lead up to war in the Pacific and also inject how the Sino-Japanese war in China was eventually played out.Using a fantastic amount of resource materiel the author has captured every aspect of the war in the Pacific from the attack at Pearl Harbour to the signing of the surrender at Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri. What enhances this work is the author captures the experiences of both sides as well as the decisions and directives of the most senior Generals and Admirals down to the everyday experiences of private soldiers, sailors and civilians caught up in battles from Manila to Okinawa.The author also captures the political side of the Pacific war with the personal aspirations of Prime Minister Churchill and President Roosevelt and how they viewed different sides of the Pacific conflict as 'their' important focus. Also the conflict between General MacAthur and Admiral King on driving across the central Pacific or coming up through the Philippines to approach the Japanese home islands. The book also looks deeply at the decision to use the atomic bombs to hasten the end of the war and the Soviet invasion of Manchuria.I was drawn to this book as it is very descriptive and contrasts the world of the most senior commanders of both sides with that of ordinary service personnel; for example the absolute despair of Japanese soldiers at the end of the major Pacific island battles as they attempted to sneak into newly won areas and steal food and water, to the desperation of sailors torpedoed in mid-Pacific who floundered in the water for sometimes days as sharks took their comrades and others around them went insane from thirst and sun.The author has captured the essence of the Pacific war from its initial confused and very tumultuous beginnings to the very concerted and massive attacks towards the end. He takes the reader on a journey of many fronts with experiences from private soldier to supreme commander and examines how through blood, torrential rain and rolling oceans swells, the war in the Pacific developed from a massive front of many thousands of kilometres down to the focused destruction of Japan and its home islands.In summary an extremely well researched and definitive account of the Pacific war, that gives explanation of how the early years of war in the Pacific evolved into a highly technological and very focused end game. For any student or reader who has an interest in the Pacific war, this book is not to be passed up. Well done, Max Hastings!
