This is a great book for review or for someone who wants to seriously learn more about electronics have not found anything better,

For a little background, I own a previous paperback edition of this book from years ago which is buried in storage. As I look into making several projects now that my 3D printer build is complete, I find myself in need of a refresher. I was overjoyed to see a new edition of this book had been released and was available on kindle. Now 20 minutes and 14 pages into the book I've given up and will be buying the paperback edition. In those first 14 pages I encountered 2 places where example calculations should have been displayed and an instance where the symbol for a battery was to be shown. All three situations just had a blank space with references in the text to the missing information the only indication that something was missing . As a result it's not worth my time to continue since I'm not willing to deal with the frustration of this which I assume will continue through out the text.It's a shame too, since I thought the index was well laid out, liked the hot links within the text that take you to other referenced sections of the book and know that the content of the paper edition is probably outstanding. Thank goodness that Prime will get the physical book to me quickly.04/20/16 Edit: I've raised the rating of this book from 1 to 3 since I received the physical edition of the book which is awsome and I realize the 1 rating was a little harsh. That being said, I firmly believe that if you are going to publish a kindle edition of a nonfiction book, it must be identical to the physical edition. Someone purchasing the kindle edition should be able to receive the exact same information in a kindle edition as in a physical edition. If you can't publish a book like that, I don't think it should be published as a kindle at all.I've also added a couple of images from the physical and the kindle edition of the book to illustrate the issue that I'm talking about.

I teach an introductory class in electronics at a small university. The class is intended for scientists, not electrical engineers; so the emphasis is on basic knowledge, practical troubleshooting skills, and design. I've used the Second Edition of this book a number of times with some satisfaction simply because the book covered most of what I needed. It was a great reference book for just about anything someone would want to know about electronics.However, there were some notable gaps in the Second Edition that I typically teach in an electronics class; specifically, I teach a section on transducers and microcontrollers. With the Third Edition, there are new sections on sensors (transducers) and microcontrollers, and now this book has everything in it that I could possibly want to teach. I've been using the Arduino for class the last couple of years because most scientists would use a microcontroller to design a piece of equipment instead of discrete gates and logic chips. So with these new additions, I cannot imagine any other book that would be needed for a class. So from this point forward, I will be using this book for EVERY electronics class that I teach.The detail in the book is in-depth enough for folks who want to know how everything works, BUT the person who wants to skip past the theory can certainly do that and STILL learn a lot from this book. As I teach, I tend to skip around within the book to cover what is important to me. The chapters are designed to be somewhat modular; for instance, I can teach the basics of analog electronics and transistors and then move to microcontrollers without necessarily having to spend a lot of time time on discrete logic chips.There are lots of illustrations and graphs; so those who need to see something to understand it will be pleased. There is also a lot of detail on practical things like motors that generally are NOT in an electronics book.The sections on household electricity are excellent and very useful, since some equipment/inventions would require mains power. So knowing how to be safe around it and how to use it properly is important.I haven't read every single page yet and marked it up. In a book this size, I am sure there will be some typographical errors along the way and maybe even a mistake or two in explaining something. But I would still say this book is the BEST practical book on electronics out there. Kudos to Mr Scherz and Dr. Monk. You've taken an excellent book and modernized it in a great way for the current day.In short, for a 1000 page book, anyone who buys this is getting a bargain. It's the BEST.

About the Author

Phoebe M. Bailey was born the youngest of 15 children in a family from Huntington, Long Island, New York. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Brown quickly in oil. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside. 2. Brown sausage in drippings. My brother love the book

This cookbook is one of the worst that I've seen. There are very few recipes that would be considered African American. In fact I suspect this wasn't originally, but was a small town church cookbook in which a "traditional" section with a few African American recipes was added before each regular chapter and a history section was added at the end. There are very few "traditional" recipes and many are minor variations on each other. For example, in the first "traditional" section, there were couple gumbo recipes and three collard green recipes - that was it. There were three pound cake recipes in the traditional cake section. The additional recipes are mundane everyday recipes, many using prepared foods - hamburger casseroles, meatloaf, cool whip pudding desserts, etc. What is Fettuccine Alfredo doing in an African American cookbook? I feel ripped off.

Wonderful. I use a lot of recipes; very informative general information. One of the few great purchases I have made.

This is a book consisting of mundane recipes that require very few ingredients. If you like black history, this book has a lot of interesting articles and quotes from past Black Americans. One of the downfalls of this cookbook is that in the slavery era the Black folk's had very little seasonings and availibility of different ingredients that add so much the African American cooking. Some of the recipes do have modern ingredients included, but, it doesn't taste like traditional southern black food. If you are looking for good recipes then I suggest buying THE BLACK FAMILY REUNION FAMILY COOKBOOK or La BELLE CUISINE. Listen to me and you won't be stuck with a cookbook that you will not use very much.

I love this book, I purchased it for my granddaughter and she loved it! It not only gives you great recipes but historical facts about them, as well as information about the Underground Railroad, quotes from Harriet Tubman and Lyrics from Spirituals. This is not just a African-American cookbook but a cookbook that everyone can enjoy and learn from!

This is a great beginners cookbook. Just be mindful and substitute with healthier products.

Great recepies and easy instructions to follow. I love to cook and learned at a very young age by watching cook shows on TV! My collection of cookbooks include all types of cooking from many countries. Just wish this book was available in hard copy.

A must have if you want to cook the soul food meals.

No page numbers and some pages were very difficult to view. Text was off the sides of the page and I had to keep changing font and screen sizes to view all of the content. Worst e-book I have ever used.

This book’s balance of descriptive writing with proper technical rigor gives readers a sense of learning and confidence that knowledge gained can be used in practical daily activities.

If you are using this for school textbook, I do not recommend this book for digital/Kindle. The graphs, charts, and tables are not legible. Tables have content cut off. You cannot increase the size to see diagrams.

Implementing Enterprise Risk Management is a terrific book of case studies from which you can learn practical applications of enterprise risk management, It is rich in the number and variety of companies, which often have varied approaches. ERM can be complicated and often subject to wide interpretation, so it is valuable to see how others utilize ERM as a management tool. I would highly recommend the book for both those learning about ERM and those searching for a deeper dive.

Horrible for kindle, the PDF does not show page numbers making doing assignments awful. Repeat, do not get this for Kindle.

I've been a fan of the DK Oxford Illustrated American Dictionary for a few years now. The DK Ultimate Visual Dictionary is the next step. It is not a dictionary in which the words are organized with pictures in alphabetical order. However, you can look up the words and find the corresponding page numbers, so finding words is relatively easy.This is a book in which 14 sections explain everything from The Universe to Calligraphy. This book doesn't include individual sentences using the words. "It shows you what each word means!" There are detailed illustrations and gorgeous photographs in rich color. Annotations surround the pictures.In the introduction, they explain how if you wanted to know what the bone at the end of your little finger was called, a normal dictionary would leave you still wondering. With this dictionary, all you have to do is look up "hand" and you find your way to page 211. This is the section on the human body. Turn a few pages and you start to see amazingly detailed information. By page 230, you will see the hand in full detail and find a picture with the annotation reading: "Distal phalanx." The "Visual Dictionary" gives you access to thousands of words used by architects, musicians, doctors, scientists, sportspeople, astronomers and mechanics.The 14 Sections include:The Universe - This book explains why the Milky Way appears brighter in the southern sky than in the northern sky. Harry Jol earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Simon Fraser University (Canada) and Ph.D. from the University of Calgary (Canada, 1996). During in his Ph.D. research through to the present he has utilized ground penetrating radar (GPR) at more than 1200+ sites in North America, Europe, Israel, New Zealand, Australia, and Antarctica which has resulted in being nominated and awarded Fellow of the Geological Society of America. Harry has a broad background in the earth sciences, particularly geomorphology, stratigraphy, and geoarchaeology. His collaborative research includes undergraduate students and results from these projects have resulted in numerous publications, conference presentations and three edited GPR volumes.

Pros:- My son loves this book- The story in this book follows the movie (mostly) and the real story. My son notices a few discrepancies and asks which is the "real" story, but I have to explain that Morgan Freeman isn't REALLY a doctor and didn't REALLY make a tail for Winter. What is real is confusing to a 5 year old.- Great photography and printing.- We got the hardback, but before that, we borrowed the paperback from the library and it is awesome too. Large, clear photos in both.Cons:- This isn't a con for US, but I want to say that this is a scientific type of story.... a TRUE story. It doesn't hold my 2 year old's attention. He would much rather read a book about funny characters that rhymes and has farm animals in it or something like that. So, maybe it's for older children (my son who loves it is 5).

Wonderful heartwarming uplifting book of hope and encouragement for any of life's challenges that we face. The Hatkoff authors are creating a series of beautiful stories that have helped many many children and adults face issues that are so difficult. This is also very educational in the material presented. It is the story of how Kevin Carroll who designed Winter's Tale worked miracles with Winter as he does with human's and their prosthetics all over the world. He is presently working on Chrissie, a beautiful sandhill crane (almost 50" tall bird) who lost her lower leg on a golf course. Chrissie lives at Save Our Seabirds ([...]). in Sarasota, Florida which is only an hour away from Winter's home in Clearwater, Florida! She is now going through the fittings that Winter did for her tail! She was named "Chrissie" short for Christmas because that was the first day she strutted in her initial prosthetic! True stories of hope are excellent gifts for those overcoming adversities in their lives. This little girl dolphin has definitely done that! The writing and stunning photography are beautiful and simple but so powerful in their message. All ages from very young to adult will enjoy this story of the people surrounding this adorable dolphin who is now thriving in her own new home. She just celebrated her 5th birthday and is doing great --learning new tricks and skills all the time. Encouragement galore for us all!! Don't hesitate!! Definitely buy the book today for yourself and grab a copy for a big or little friend. You won't be disappointed. A great children's or adult's non-fiction book to add to any and all collections. This book is everything that I thought and hoped it would be. It is poignant as it touches your heart in every aspect--taking us from the initial rescue through to a happy ending. I am a former teacher and I can see its value in reaching out to children and drawing them into the story--helping them to experience their own feelings while relating to Little Winter. As an introduction to the precarious world of innocent animals and their vulnerabilities, the book also shows how mankind can and does help. The pictures of all the different loving volunteers who pitch in wholeheartedly to help Winter are unforgettable. I have a few grandnieces and nephews who will find this true story every bit as wonderful a testament to good, caring people and sweet animals--as I do. I bought this book after I saw on PBS a brief mention of Winter's story. I decided to research it here on Amazon and learned enough that I went through with the purchase. It is everything I'd hoped it would be.

Regardless, the videos Winters Tale, Nims Island, and other ocean, island, creatures of the oceans, children who show courage and overcome through perseverance all have value. We loved the story of Winter...be inspired.

I did a term paper on dolphins in grade school. As a disabled person myself, I can relate to Winter having to cope with a disability that she didn't ask for. In a day when we see, hear and read about humans destroying animals and/or their habitat, it's nice to read about the caring humans who helped Winter learn to swim again.

It was a good book. Kind of a rehash for me but good reminders

Really basic, more for the beginner just starting to sell on ebay. I have been selling for 2 yrs and this book did not provide me with any new information that I didn't already know.

This book was truly appreciated and welcomed. The step by step depictions are great especially for the new beginner. The best part was the list of the top items to source and the key words to use when listing them. A lot of people usually have trouble knowing what to source and this book is a great guide to start with. Thank you again!
