I am aware that there is now a 3rd edition (Programming Python) out now of this series, but I cannot in good conscience not comment about the problem with this particular edition.I own the first and second editions. I heartily recommend the 1st over the 2nd. In fact, the 2nd edition is actually missing material from the first - even though the 2nd is ALMOST TWICE THE SIZE of the first.This is the worst part.. the best reason to even own the 1st edition (the only reason basically IMHO) is a section near the back of the book. And get this.. thats the only part they took out for the second edition.Thats right, they added a bunch of useless text, and gutted the only thing that made the first edition of any value.I have both on my bookshelf, the 2nd edition is in perfect condition and collects dust. The 1st is worn from use. Take from that what you will.

I can't really complain about the book, except that newer 2.5+ libraries are not covered (e.g. the "subprocess" module"). It isn't meant to be comprehensive in the sense that you won't learn everything, but it covers enough for one to become a good python programmer.

Auxier is a left-seater, a Captain for `a major U.S. airline.' The author's other work includes two previous books: 'The Last Bush Pilots,' and 'Code Name Dodger.' This collection of tales from the cockpit includes gems with titles taken from pop culture: `Denali Mountain High'; `Zen and the Art of Aircraft Maintenance'; `The Loon is a Harsh Mistress,' you get the idea. These are satisfying, instructive, often inspiring tales, all with an undercurrent of some kind. Most of the time that subtle theme lurking below the text concerns the vagaries of the aviation game, not the dangers of it that the public focuses on but the `flyin' biz' chatter that only a pilot can relate to, but the public `inquiring minds' love to know. Indeed, one of the most telling essays in the book is titled `Top 10 downers of an airline pilot career.' As a former commercial pilot, I found myself nodding in full agreement at all ten, from the restrictions to family time, to subsistence pay, to the reality of commercial aviation's utter lack of job security. Yet, at the end of this particular piece, the childlike wonder remerges. Auxier--speaking for all pilots, at all times, everywhere--writes at the books beginning, "Ask any pilot how they started flying and you'll hear a love story" and then he returns to this sentiment after itemizing ten reasons he hates it, with this: "You're sitting in a chair...in the sky! And getting paid for it!" The writing is strong, with many of the pieces taken from capnaux.com, Auxier's flying blog, and articles of his written for NYCAviation.com and Airways Magazine. Some of the pieces in There I Wuz! lack any real flying advice and/or narrative, though the context is flying life and its blandishments. I finished this book in one sitting, minus the time I spent boarding my deadhead flight. This book will make you laugh (I did), but will also hit you in your heart (I teared up). As a fellow airline pilot I would have struggled to make one of the announcements he made and for the same reason. The book does an excellent job of portraying the nice sides as well as the "warts" of aviation, and in particular being an airline pilot. Even the bits of fiction throw you into the action and unless it was specifically stated you would never know that it is fiction. Though I have been flying for far less time than Cap'n Aux and haven't had the broad range of experiences, I can relate to the stories. And yes, if you ask a pilot, you will get a love story. Mine started when I was 9, and I remember as it was yesterday. As well as my first solo flight.

Recipe is for Spinach and Coconut Milk; description says it's a loaf "packed with tints of olive and a buckload of shredded cheddar"!pg. 62 Recipe calls for halloumi in the directions, but not the ingredient list. What is it, and why isn't it on the allowed foods list? And you have to look at the instructions for how to cook it to appreciate that nobody proof-read this book.I intend to return.

I was really excited to receive this book being that my fiancee and I are looking to start shifting towards vegan while still maintaining a low-carb lifestyle. However, if that is your goal, this book is NOT for you. I have no idea how it has so many positive reviews but this book feels like a huge prank. Immediately after receiving it, I started to flip through it and the second recipe I read had YOGURT in it. Dug deeper...heavy cream. Another...butter. I have enough vegans in my life to know that this is no bueno! The joke doesn't stop there. What's even crazier, there is a list in the front of what NOT to eat on a vegan diet. All three things are on the list but yet they are in the recipes! If these recipes were truly vegan, I may have been able to overlook the grammar and spelling errors. Alas, that is not the case. On bright side, it will give me a ton of content for my blog as I review this joke of a book in much further detail.

I truly had high hopes for this book. There are a few good recipes, but I found a couple that called for "whey" protein and another "bacon", neither of which is vegan. Besides those little issues and some bad grammar, most of the recipes are salads and I'm looking for more exciting, creative ideas.

Going through the recipes I keep finding more and more ridiculous errors. The Coconut Coffee Smoothie uses Greek yogurt as an ingredient (to my knowledge there isn't yet a vegan version), the Sautéed Spinach on page 62 lists placing Halloumi slices in the pan in the steps (halloumi is a kind of cheese, again no vegan version, and this isn't listed in the ingredients), the Generous Broccoli and Onion Salad on page 63 has "take a salad bowl and add bacon pieces..." in the instructions, although again bacon is not listed in the ingredients. This makes me think the author was just lazy and ripped off recipes from other Keto books but didn't bother removing all the non-vegan ingredients. Which begs the question are the nutrition facts right? How can you trust such a lazy author? In "Turtle Friendly Gentle Salad" page 89 one of the instructions is "once the rice is soft and creamy, enjoy!" with no other mention of rice (which isn't Keto-friendly). Then there are smaller errors like cayenne pepper being listed twice on page 114 and the Fiber count missing on page 60- I've really only scanned the book so I would guess there are more. Moral of this story- EDIT YOUR BOOK before publishing.... or I guess I should buy books that are published by an actual publisher.. shame on me. Also, I did NOT receive the e-book version that was supposed to come with the hard copy.

I got this bundle for the Linux programming only, I have no interest in Excel whatsoever. This book is very comprehensive and my favourite source of Linux programming. This helped close the loop on a lot of fundamental concepts that I had learned ad hoc through experience but had never "read the manual" on, and as a result clarified a lot of my understanding. I now feel much more comfortable diving into code for tools like SSH or Bash, where in the past these would have been relatively inaccessible given the conceptual understanding I was lacking. It's worth mentioning in the subtitle that this is a vegetarian cookbook. Also that recipes aren't rooted in historical tradition.

I know this was labeled as for beginners, which I am, but I thought it would be a collection of recipes. Instead this was mostly a guide based on wiccan philosophy. The author talks about vegetarian and organic, fresh and local. All of that is good I guess but still not what I thought I was paying for. A part of why I didn't enjoy this as much was because it only had a few recipes. And some of those were for kitchen cleaners instead of food. I don't feel like this is necessary if you already have a respect for nature and let that factor into how you source/prepare your food.

This is a great book to open your eyes to kitchen witchery. Mrs. Chamberlain is an excellent author and is easy to understand. I recommend all of her books to my witchy friends.

Excellent book for the Wiccan Kitchen and well written. Good for the beginner and even for the advanced Witch. Some things were new to me and some I had known before. Very good book for any Witches Kitchen.
