It has articles on topics addressed in the Bible with Scriptural references.

Excellent resource book.

I begin by emphasizing some noted changes made to this newest edition of the Evangelical Dictionary of Theology (EDT from now on). EDT is an aesthetically appealing, well organized, systematic theology focused, technical resource for evangelical Christian theology. What was once a major editorial project of Walter A. Elwell, this newest edition has received its undertaking by adding a new editor, Daniel J. Treier alongside of Elwell.EDT went back to containing no articles of living theologians. The first edition employed this practice, only to be changed with the second edition (So, do not toss/trade or sell your second edition. You may find it handy for research). As a result, this move, and a few other changes, greatly reduced the overall size of this text dramatically. The third edition has added 150,000 “words of new content” with a more intentional effort to “diversify the contributors list.” I have totaled an approximate number of 377 contributors to this edition. For a more detailed account of changes made to the Third Edition the editors include a neatly organized Preface to the Third Edition.Some of the newer articles include subjects of more recent contemporary interest like that of Molinism (by W. J. Wood); Political Theology (K. Deede Johnson) and so much more. Plenary Inspiration (by I.S. Rennie) was removed and referenced back to C.F.H. Henry’s article, Bible, Inspiration Of. W. G. Phillips’ treatment on the discipline of Apologetics was drastically reduced and reframed by J.G. Stackhouse. However, his treatment is equally valuable and offers new perspective. These are only some of many examples and likely the result of the editor’s goal of reducing and trimming down some articles in order to include newer; of more contemporary interest. Having been immersed in modern day theological movements, I believe it is a strength the editors decided to revert back to the old practice of not including articles on modern day theologians simply because one’s position on a certain topic might change or vary throughout their life span. Including living theologians could demand unnecessary revisions. This text should last some time before needing a new overhaul. I think it also allows the theologian to be best represented. However, I sense that the historical nature will be lost unless, and upon their death, their entry into the EDT allows room for tracking transitions in their theological journey. In this case, editors are forced to weigh the pros and cons of what will be lost and decide what will be more beneficial. However, I think that this change might have caused a greater loss when they replaced “a wide range of earlier articles…on early Christianity.” Nevertheless, the void is filled and the goal improved by including more articles that best represent the “fullness” of “evangelical Christianity. I believe that their efforts to diversify the list of contributor’s falls into the realm of improvements giving us greater range of views held within evangelical Christianity. Time will only tell how these changes will impact the learned minds of generations to come.Benefits EDT is a technical look at the finer points of evangelical perspectives in Christian Theology without losing its readability. Every pastor, student or teacher will benefit from EDT in their research or to gain a deeper level understanding of some of the major issues and ideas within evangelical theological circles.This resource is built upon the shoulders of giants, of late and today, who have preserved the intellectual richness of all that Christianity has to offer. These are no ordinary people. EDT is represented by the world’s top evangelical scholars. Their contributions range in controversial topics like Bioethics (abortion, euthanasia); Theological Liberalism; Predestination; Christian Liberty; Postmodernism; and so much more!I rate EDT five stars. The overall feel of the book is revamped and appealing with some significant updates and changes. I express much gratitude to Baker for allowing me a privileged review copy.

This book was so cumbersome to use. I was forced to use it by my university for my courses. It has over 1300 pages and no contents or index. It was very hard to find the topics I was to research. I ended up making tabs for the sections I was reading in order to find it again without so much effort. I have never used it since the course it was to be used in. I never will use it for its intended purpose. I am using it under a bed lamp to make it higher. A very expensive door stop/lamp lifter

Since my discipline, and vocation, is homiletics/preaching, I first turned to the article "Preach, Preaching." My practice is to first look at the Bibliography, then - reading the text. While the entries are fine contributions to the literature on the History of Preaching (in fact I worked on the re-issue of Lectures on the History of Preaching, in 2004, through Solid Ground Publishing) there is a startling omission of : Individually, Fred Craddock's work, and Collectively: The 7 Volume The Reading and Preaching of the Scriptures in the Worship of the Christian Church (Hughes Oliphant Old); The Concise Encyclopedia of Preaching (Wm Willimon/R Lischer); A History of Preaching (O.C. Edwards) and The New Interpreter's Handbook of Preaching (P.S. Wilson, Editor). These Stars of the First Magnitude, should be included in all Bibliographies on Homiletics/Preach/Preaching. I believe there will be many well informed Evangelicals who will scoff at this trivial issue - I however think it it is important to list the most significant volumes, of the last and current generation, in any Sources Cited/Consulted - for the benefit of the curious Reader.

David Palma, MD, PhD, is a radiation oncologist and cancer researcher focusing on the treatment of lung, head and neck, and metastatic cancers. He holds advanced degrees from Harvard University, the VU University in Amsterdam, and Western University in Canada. Palma has published more than one hundred scientific research articles, and has won several awards for academics and teaching. He lives in Canada with his wife Cheryl Smits—a family doctor—and their three children. He is an avid marathon runner and Ironman triathlete. Foreword writer Anthony Zietman, MD, is Shipley Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School, and former president of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). I learned more about cancer than I had ever heard; not that that would have taken much. But David Palma, M.D., is a radiation oncologist, so I figured he would know his material. The book was published in May or June of this year ('17), making it pretty hot off the presses, although I bought the Kindle version.In Taking Charge..., Palma did provide a lot of information about cancer, including the way cancer cells work, hide, play tricks; how they move through the body, and so much more. But his primary purpose in writing the book was to give people like me--and you, if you have cancer--information to help us ensure that we are receiving the best treatment possible, for US, not for just everyone. He included the kinds of doctors we would have on our team, the kinds of questions we should ask them, and again, so much more.The two reasons that come to mind, now, that make this a **** and not a ***** review are (1) Palma did not focus on breast cancer, which is my diagnosis (generalized). Not that he could have done that, in this book, but I realized I was wanting that; and (2) he wrote about medical teams as they apparently exist in large medical centers, where multidisciplinary team meetings can be held. Not one of the members of my team works in that kind of setting. Each one has his or her own office in the city, although the two oncologists, medical and radiation, do work in the same oncology center. My primary doctor, a family physician (not a general practitioner), tells me they all talk behind the scenes. And the two oncologists meet with others within their own specialties on a regular basis, so that members of each of those teams all know what's going on with each other's patients. So I have a medical team, but they don't function the way Palma described teams functioning in large medical centers.What I guess that boils down to is that I learned a great deal from this book--and the author provided information about and links to other resources--but it was not a total fit, for me. Honestly, I don't know how any one book could be. I recommend this book as one very good resource for anyone just diagnosed with cancer - not only breast cancer - or for anyone who is close to someone just diagnosed.

A diagnosis of cancer can be sudden and overwhelming. Patients are often faced with a whirlwind of appointments, often with multiple specialists, and within a short time-frame. As a physician in training for oncology, some of the common questions I've seen in clinics are:- "If you were me, should I have treatment? Which treatment should I take?"- "I'm not sure what to ask, I don't think I have questions. There was a lot of information just given"- I read somewhere that this type of injection/vitamin/food takes cancer away, should I take it?"- "Which websites or books should I read to learn more?"This book is like that friend that you can ask for advice. The author's goal is so that "every patient receives world-class cancer care". Each chapter is designed to teach, and to empower patients so that information makes sense, and so that you can decide on the best care for you.It holds physicians accountable, and contains check-lists of things to look for and to ask your doctor. It gives patients back the control that sometimes disappears after a cancer diagnosis.It teaches how to make a decision about your treatment, and the weighing of risks and benefits. The book is also brutally honest about possible influences on physicians and how to spot them.In the end, it's designed to form a connection between patients and their cancer doctors, a how-to manual to navigate a cancer diagnosis.After reading it, I believe it would help a substantial number of cancer patients, their family and friends, as well as other health professionals.It also comes with a website with patient tools, and resources that are frequently updated.Dr. Palma is a well-respected physician in the field of radiation oncology. It’s a well written book for the novice such as myself. However, in some cases, the author assumes a certain level of knowledge, at which level I’m not. What keeps me from rating it a 5 is a couple of footnotes defining some terms. Nevertheless, I am learning and enjoying it.

Material is invaluable, the edition not so great but anyway... I imagined fully bright and colourful pages showing graphs and charts with tips, specially by it's price. Looks more like a photocopy set of a rough script. But I repeat the content is what matters.

It's an essential book, but I don't find it specially bright enough in some aspects that Owsinski touches, i.e. the arrangement, he states his personal view and seems to differ from serious books speaking about structure and arrangement. It's good if you start from scratch to get to know basic stuff about type of reverbs, how a compressor/gate works, which are the basic 6 elements of a good mix, or the history of mixing, studios, etc.Specially oriented for the classic mixing engineer. If you are a modern mixing aspirant for styles like electronic music or hip hop you will find it too old dated in techniques. Although, the info shared in this book is basic and important but not essential in my opinion. It's good to start from the bottom if you like that way to do the things, but if you practically want to learn directly the technical stuff, I know much better options to read. Buy this book if you want to know about classic engineer's and a bit of history of all since half of the book are interviews. I would read it again if you ask me, but I know there could be a much better and complete book in the field, cutting some information and adding practical and modern techniques.

A few months ago, I thought mixing was mostly a matter of adjusting volume levels on each instrument or vocal. After recording a couple of my songs, I quickly realized that there's way more to it. I'm slowly learning....the mixes are getting better...and this book has been a huge help.

Fantastic resource, part 2 is AWESOME hearing from the best mixing engineers in history. The real guys who did the Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Elton John, MJ, Steely Dan... the list goes on. Filled with gems. Can't wait to read his book on mastering now!

There are so many authors, blogs, videos etc. on mixing out there. Sometimes the different suggestions you get are confusing or contradictory to each other. I have decided to follow one line of advice from now on, i.e. Bobbby Owsinski, his books and his online courses. Bobby has been an author in this field for many years and to me seems to be the most experienced.

I just love these Whelan Brothers and I can't wait for the cousins story and Sully's! Cormac sounded so sexy and a hot alpha, and loved his woman. I love the irish theme in these books.M.K. Moore did a great job on Lucky In Love, the story was well written and had a great plot. Cormac and Finola were great characters. I enjoyed their story, they had an instant attraction. Thank you for a great read!This was an ARC book.

And when she shows that she'll be by his side in all ways, adding to his pub and helping keep his dad's legend alive, he falls even deeper in love...if that's even possible.One-click now and follow along as soulmates meet and embark on their new journey. I enjoyed this story and look forward to the rest, however, I do have concerns regarding Sullivan as he comes off sounding like a manwhore, which is not what I was expecting due to Gareth and Cormac, and their dad's lesson. Also, I cannot wait to see more of Officer Quinn and Molly. Ooh boy, those two. On a personal note, first, Finola has an older sister, then she has older brothers, so I'm not sure which it's supposed to be. Second, I'm glad we're finally told Kiernan is their cousin.**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**

Finola has never been so spontaneous but something drove her to suddenly take off for Ireland. After exploring, she wanders into a pub and is mesmerized by the barkeep with the amazing tattoos and suspenders. Cormac doesn't know what brought this lovely lass into his pub but he is going to stop at nothing to keep her. Finola knows this is exactly what she has been searching for but doesn't dare hope that he feels the same. Will Cormac be able to convince her to stay and brighten his heart and his life?Omgosh, Cormac is a seriously yummy hero! A man with suspenders and tattoos and a sweet disposition, a candidate for book boyfriend for sure. I adored these two together! Finola is just so sweet and charming, I wanted to visit their pub and just enjoy being around them. If you love accents, steamy scenes, instalove and happy ever after, Lucky in Love is the book for you!

This is book 2 in the Whelan Brothers Series. They can be read as standalones.Cormac and Finola were a great couple. She was sassy, fiesty, and very friendly! I loved her as a heroine. Her attitude towards life was refreshing. Cormac was not only a OTT Alpha, he was also sweet, and I loved him with her. This pair was truly matched perfectly.Their love was quick, and insta-love. This was a safe read and I enjoyed it very much. I also can't wait for the rest of this series. I highly recommend this book.

I am really loving this series! Cormac and Finola (love that name) were a fantastic couple. It was definitely love at first sight. They had an instant pull and connection to one another. It has some common sense advice such as work hard to be good at what you do, and then it will take full credit for mankind’s survival in the next sentence. I don’t detect the sense of wisdom the book claims is behind their organization.Quite frankly, I read the whole thing, though admittedly they lost me at the secret island in the Atlantic Ocean that is covered in barbed wire, can’t be found on a map, “ever,” and yet this is where our most powerful leaders go to get naked and talk about how to do mankind the most good, in a white room with a glass table... take me there with your unlimited resources and I will happily change my review to 5-Stars.If there is an order of the Illuminati in existence today, I highly doubt they are in any sort of affiliation with whoever picked up this fake official website to launch bogus books from.

It is a strange book. It does not really explain what it is. There is no author name either. You can't take this seriously when it is written that way. It is almost mystical in the way it conveys the message, but shallow. You cannot not take this book seriously.

All I can say for this book is that I went into it very skeptical, and came out of it still so. The author tells you about the "true illuminati," while obviously leaving out critical details like locations and actual members. It's almost like telling someone there is a God, but not actually showing them. This leads the reader to either believe by faith or choose to be very skeptical. I remain curiously skeptical. Intrigued, even.However, this book, along with The Second Testament, has changed my views and actions in life. I credit this book for actually planting a seed inside of me that lead to more drive, focus and hard work than anything else that I can think of to date. This book is good for the conspiracy theorist, although it will just leave a firm believer of the illuminati with more questions, doubts and skepticism. I didn't dive into this book with theories, only curiosity. It was worth it. I highly recommend this book and any other Illuminatiam books.

This book had some good metaphors - the writer is a very clear and eloquent thinker - but unfortunately the book's primary purpose seems to be to sell Illuminati Talisman, cheap looking gold necklaces that would shatter the anonymity the Illuminati purportedly seek (much like this book), and also to sell the next book in this series, instead of informing people with concrete examples how to live in compliance with Illuminati tenets.The author writes that the Illuminati will reach out and contact readers about becoming a ranking member... All I've received are a lot of Copy/Paste emails with content from the book or website about basic Illuminati ideas... And I just received an invite to get the Talisman in 1 of 3 colors "as an outward sign of [my] commitment to the Illuminati when I am ready..."Seems quite Scam-y for an organization "with unlimited resources." Cannot recommend this book or the org. Save yourself some cash and keep working toward wealth in honest, beneficial ways!

Yes I bought this; I like to read and I kept getting people send me stuff and follow me on Twitter. So, since I like to study religious cultures, I gave this a try.Lots of it is a positive message, but it was the whole, "You aren't a true sentient being without our behind-the-scenes guidance" was unnerving. I don't like being told that if I wasn't part of the higher echelons of a greater scheme, then I never would be. I teach my children that there are ways to make a greater impact in this world, and there are ways to improve your socio-economic standing, but this book walled everything in. That is to say, it made explicit references to the little people that are needed at the bottom, and the movers-and-shakers who make the rules at the top. It gave no "instructions" on how to become one of these movers-and-shakers, it just said you either are, or you're not. Bull.I could actually write more text about why this book bothered me than the actual amount of text contained in the book. It only took a very short time to read it. I read it again, thinking maybe I missed something, but I got disgusted the more I trudged on.Coincidentally, to give this a fair shot, I also signed up for their emails, and "applied" to be part of the organization. I never received anything that said I was "approved" or "denied", but I sure got a lot of emails asking me to buy different fake metal versions of their talisman pendant. Oh, and one congratulating some socialite on her nuptials. I gave it about 8 months for them to complete their 30-60 day review of my application. Then I unsubscribed.Maybe I'm just not worth enough to them to invest in me. *shrugs*
